Growing up in Taipei, Taiwan in 1960’s, I used to see many people practicing martial arts in the park every morning. Much inspired by the diligence shown by practitioners, I started to practice Tan Tui and Chinese wrestling (Shuai Jiao). From the Kuoshu club in high school, I learned Mantis boxing (Tang Lang) and some swordplay. With private teachers, I learned Tong Bei and Ba Ji in 1970’s. During the college years, Chen style Tai Chi and Cheng style Ba Gua were introduced to me. I maintained a training schedule after lessons from teachers. Practice of Chinese martial arts is always a big part of my life.
Over the years, I compiled many short practice sets. Each set is consisted of a few moves. We may practice it back and forth. Each set focuses on a practice theme or specific power generation. Knowing that not many Chinese martial arts books are published in English, I started to organize my notes into books. They are to introduce Chinese martial arts to the new world. Both general introduction and style specific books were written.
In 2003, “A winner’s guide to life, meditation and martial arts” is published.
In 2004, “The treasure book of Chinese martial arts (volume 1)” was published.
In the summer of 2005, “Tai Ji Quan: theory, practice and fighting methods” was published.
In the fall of 2005, “Ba Gua Zhang: techniques and application” was published.
In 2006, “Ba Zi Xie Xi: a talk on rake fist” was published.
In 2007, “The treasure book of Chinese martial arts (volume 2)-Dynamic of power generation” was written.
In 2008, "Ba Ji 24 hand methods and classics" was published.
In the future, the author will continue to write about topics about Chinese martial arts.
